The theme of love was a subject that deeply engaged the sculptor, draftsman, and author Ernst Barlach (1870–1938) throughout his life—both in his private life and in his sculptural and graphic works. For him, love, as a fundamental human emotion, was far more than the relationship between a conventional couple, as the museum demonstrates in a new special exhibition.
